So now we have a race narrowed down to effectively 4 candidates. I'm assuming, for the moment, that Huckabee is history (and I certainly hope that's the case). The four remaining, of course, are:
Obama & Clinton - D
McCain & Romney - R
Now, I certainly never expected to see McCain make a comeback, as evidenced by my original posting on the topic, but I'm glad he did. He's the Republican candidate I dislike the least. The danger of having McCain in the presidential election is that I don't know if he can get enough Republicans to vote for him, and I don't know if he can get enough Democrats to vote for him. I can hope, though.
I've also thought it would be amusing to see Clinton running as the VP candidate for McCain. I can see it happen. But again, too many Republicans would be too dead-set against that.
Of all the issues to take into consideration for this election, the most important seem to be the following (with scoring):
Economy: Mitt Romney +1.
Education: John McCain +1.
Environment: Hillary Clinton +1.
War: No points to anyone. None of them have a good strategy.
Health Care: 0s all around again.
Homeland Security: Clinton & Obama both +1.
Immigration: 0s again.
Social Security: Barack Obama +1.
Well... that tells me absolutely nothing. The other arguments - such as gay unions and abortion - don't have anything to do with the presidency in my opinion. So once again, I'm stuck choosing between Clinton and Obama... I'm really not sure how to make that choice. At least once one of them is chosen over the other, the final vote for President should be an easy one.

My candidate of choice, Ron Paul, obviously won't be winning the Republican primary. And now that the race is starting to narrow down quite a bit I've been thinking about what to do in Nov. Do I vote None of the Above like I did in 2004 again?
I do know I won't be voting for any other Republican other than Ron Paul. I certainly won't be voting for Clinton either. I could see myself voting for Obama if McCain was the Republican nominee though. McCain as president scares me almost as much as Clinton.
I have a feeling that Obama has the least potential to do harm as President, but I've been wrong before.
you see, I think that's the danger of Obama - he's likable enough that people don't see any particular harm in voting for him, and he's unknown enough that people don't have any specific political problems with him. It's like voting for a random person.
And he's liked enough at the moment that he seems to definitely be the next president.
All of which kinda scares me.
Of course, Ron Paul would be one of the better choices, but better choices usually aren't the ones who make it to the final four :)
I'd rather vote unknown and take my chances than get what the rest of them are offering.
But you do have a point, he could end up being worse than anyone is giving him credit for.
In the end, I'll just be happy if we escape the election and Clinton or McCain are not in the White House.
Were you thinking of this slogan when you titled this post?
That's pretty funny!!
